  1  1    Section 1.  Section 256D.5, subsection 3, Code Supplement
  1  2 2003, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    3.  For each fiscal year of the fiscal period beginning
  1  4 July 1, 2001, and ending June 30, 2004 2006, the sum of thirty
  1  5 million dollars.
  1  6    Sec. 2.  Section 256D.9, Code Supplement 2003, is amended
  1  7 to read as follows:
  1  8    256D.9  FUTURE REPEAL.
  1  9    This chapter is repealed effective July 1, 2004 2006.
  1 10    Sec. 3.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 11 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.  
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13    This bill extends until July 1, 2006, the repeal of the
  1 14 Iowa early intervention block grant program, which supports
  1 15 class-size reduction and improving K-3 reading instructional
  1 16 outcomes, and extends until July 1, 2006, the $30 million
  1 17 annual statutory appropriation.
  1 18    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
