1 1 Section 1. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE – PERSONAL NEEDS ALLOWANCE.
1 2 The department of human services shall adopt rules which
1 3 provide that the personal needs allowance under the medical
1 4 assistance program, which is retained by a resident of a
1 5 health care facility, is seventy-five dollars per month,
1 6 unless a greater amount is allowed under state or federal law.
1 7 EXPLANATION
1 8 This bill directs the department of human services to adopt
1 9 rules to allow residents of health care facilities
1 10 participating in the medical assistance program to retain a
1 11 personal needs allowance of $75 per month, unless a greater
1 12 amount is allowed to be retained under state or federal law.
1 13 The current personal needs allowance is $30 per month.
