  1  4 PROVIDING FOR A WAIVER OF DEADLINE REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO
  1  5    WHOLE-GRADE SHARING AGREEMENTS IN SPECIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICTS,
  1  6    AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

  1  8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  9 
  1 10    Section 1.  WHOLE-GRADE SHARING AGREEMENT DEADLINE WAIVER.
  1 11 Notwithstanding sections 282.10 and 282.11, the department of
  1 12 education may, prior to July 1, 2003, and at the department's
  1 13 discretion, waive any of the deadline requirements of sections
  1 14 282.10 and 282.11, relating to the signing of a whole-grade
  1 15 sharing agreement by the boards of two or more school
  1 16 districts involved in the agreement and the public notice and
  1 17 hearing requirements, if one of the districts involved in the
  1 18 agreement has an enrollment of less than three hundred pupils
  1 19 and has formed a dissolution commission pursuant to section
  1 20 275.51.
  1 21    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 22 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
