1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 155A.40 PHARMACEUTICAL DISCOUNT
1 2 CLEARINGHOUSE AND HOTLINE – ESTABLISHED.
1 3 The Iowa department of public health, in cooperation with
1 4 the university of Iowa college of pharmacy and the Drake
1 5 university college of pharmacy, shall establish a
1 6 pharmaceutical discount clearinghouse and hotline to provide
1 7 information regarding pharmaceutical drug discount programs to
1 8 the public.
1 9 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION – PHARMACEUTICAL DISCOUNT
1 10 CLEARINGHOUSE AND HOTLINE. There is appropriated from the
1 11 senior living trust fund created in section 249H.4 to the Iowa
1 12 department of public health, for the fiscal year beginning
1 13 July 1, 2003, and ending June 30, 2004, the following amount,
1 14 or so much thereof as is necessary, to establish and
1 15 administer, in cooperation with the university of Iowa college
1 16 of pharmacy and the Drake university college of pharmacy, a
1 17 pharmaceutical discount clearinghouse and hotline as
1 18 established pursuant to section 155A.40:

1 20 EXPLANATION
1 21 This bill directs the Iowa department of public health, in
1 22 cooperation with the university of Iowa college of pharmacy
1 23 and the Drake university college of pharmacy, to establish a
1 24 pharmaceutical discount clearinghouse and hotline to provide
1 25 information regarding pharmaceutical drug discount programs to
1 26 the public. The bill also appropriates $50,000 for fiscal
1 27 year 2003-2004 to the Iowa department of public health to
1 28 establish and administer the clearinghouse and hotline.
