  1  4 MODIFYING THE DUTIES OF COUNTY RECORDERS.  
  1  5 
  1  6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  7 
  1  8    Section 1.  Section 331.602, subsection 33, Code 2003, is
  1  9 amended by striking the subsection.
  1 10    Sec. 2.  Section 331.607, subsection 6, Code 2003, is
  1 11 amended to read as follows:
  1 12    6.  A register record of the names and descriptions of
  1 13 farms as provided in section 557.22.
  1 14    Sec. 3.  Section 557.22, Code 2003, is amended to read as
  1 15 follows:
  1 16    557.22  AUTHORIZATION – CERTIFICATE.
  1 17    Any owner of a farm in the state may have the name of that
  1 18 farm, together with a description of the owner's lands to
  1 19 which said the name applies, recorded in a register kept for
  1 20 that purpose in the office of the county recorder of the
  1 21 county in which said the farm is located.
  1 22    Such recorder shall furnish to such landowner a proper
  1 23 certificate setting forth said name and a description of such
  1 24 lands.
  1 25    Sec. 4.  Section 607A.9, Code 2003, is amended to read as
  1 26 follows:
  1 27    607A.9  EX OFFICIO COMMISSIONS.
  1 28    In counties utilizing a jury commission for the drawing of
  1 29 jurors, the clerk of the district court, and the county
  1 30 auditor, and the county recorder shall ex officio constitute
  1 31 the jury commission but shall receive no extra compensation
  1 32 for acting as jury commissioners.  If any of the above offices
  1 33 have been consolidated, the chief judge of the judicial
  1 34 district shall select another elected county officer to serve
  1 35 as a jury commissioner.
