  1  1    Amend House File 2532 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 2 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  Section 97B.1A, subsection 8, paragraph
  1  5 a, Code Supplement 2003, is amended by adding the
  1  6 following new subparagraph:
  1  7    NEW SUBPARAGRAPH.  (12)  An adjunct instructor who
  1  8 is a member of the system for other employment.
  1  9    Sec. ___.  Section 97B.1A, subsection 8, paragraph
  1 10 b, subparagraph (3), Code Supplement 2003, is amended
  1 11 to read as follows:
  1 12    (3)  Employees hired for temporary employment of
  1 13 less than six consecutive months or one thousand forty
  1 14 hours in a calendar year.  An employee who works for
  1 15 an employer for six or more consecutive months or who
  1 16 works for an employer for more than one thousand forty
  1 17 hours in a calendar year is not a temporary employee
  1 18 under this subparagraph.  Adjunct instructors who are
  1 19 not otherwise a member of the system are temporary
  1 20 employees for the purposes of this chapter.  As used
  1 21 in this section, unless the context otherwise
  1 22 requires, "adjunct instructors" means instructors
  1 23 employed by a community college or a university
  1 24 governed by the state board of regents without a
  1 25 continuing contract, whose teaching load does not
  1 26 exceed one-half time for two full semesters or three
  1 27 full quarters per calendar year."
