1 1 Amend House File 169 as follows:
1 2 #1. By striking everything after the enacting
1 3 clause and inserting the following:
1 4 "Section 1. Section 97B.52A, subsection 1,
1 5 paragraph c, Code 2003, is amended to read as follows:
1 6 c. For a member whose first month of entitlement
1 7 is July 2000 or later, the member does not return to
1 8 any employment with a covered employer until the
1 9 member has qualified for at least one calendar month
1 10 of retirement benefits, and the member does not return
1 11 to covered employment until the member has qualified
1 12 for no fewer than four calendar months of retirement
1 13 benefits. For purposes of this paragraph, effective
1 14 July 1, 2000, any employment with a covered employer
1 15 does not include employment as an elective official or
1 16 member of the general assembly if the member is not
1 17 covered under this chapter for that employment. For
1 18 purposes of this paragraph, covered employment does
1 19 not include employment by a public hospital or as a
1 20 peace officer as defined in section 97A.1, police
1 21 officer, or fire fighter.
1 22 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 23 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment."
1 24 #2. Title page, line 2, by inserting after the
1 25 word "system" the following: "and providing an
1 26 effective date".
