PAG LIN 1 1 Amend House File 667 as follows: 1 2 #1. Page 32, by inserting after line 16, the 1 3 following: 1 4 " . a. The department shall develop consumer 1 5 information material to assist parents in selecting a 1 6 child care provider. In developing the material, the 1 7 department shall consult with department of human 1 8 services staff, department of education staff, the 1 9 state child care advisory council, the Iowa 1 10 empowerment board, and child care resource and 1 11 referral services. In addition, the department may 1 12 consult with other entities at the local, state, and 1 13 national level. 1 14 b. The consumer information material developed by 1 15 the department for parents and other consumers of 1 16 child care services shall include but is not limited 1 17 to all of the following: 1 18 (1) A pamphlet or other printed material 1 19 containing consumer-oriented information on locating a 1 20 quality child care provider. 1 21 (2) Information explaining important 1 22 considerations a consumer should take into account in 1 23 selecting a licensed or registered child care 1 24 provider. 1 25 (3) Information explaining how a consumer can 1 26 identify quality services, including what questions to 1 27 ask of providers and what a consumer might expect or 1 28 demand to know before selecting a provider. 1 29 (4) An explanation of the applicable laws and 1 30 regulations written in layperson's terms. 1 31 (5) An explanation of what it means for a provider 1 32 to be licensed, registered, or unregistered. 1 33 (6) An explanation of the information considered 1 34 in registry and record background checks. 1 35 (7) Other information deemed relevant to 1 36 consumers. 1 37 c. The department shall implement and publicize an 1 38 internet page or site that provides all of the 1 39 following: 1 40 (1) The written information developed pursuant to 1 41 paragraphs "a" and "b". 1 42 (2) Regular informational updates, including when 1 43 a child care provider was last subject to a state 1 44 quality review or inspection and, based upon a final 1 45 score or review, the results indicating whether the 1 46 provider passed or failed the review or inspection. 1 47 (3) Capability for a consumer to be able to access 1 48 information concerning child care providers, such as 1 49 informational updates, identification of provider 1 50 location, name, and capacity, and identification of 2 1 providers participating in the state child care 2 2 assistance program, by sorting the information or 2 3 employing other means that provide the information in 2 4 a manner that is useful to the consumer. 2 5 (4) Other information deemed appropriate by the 2 6 department." 2 7 #2.
