1 4 "DIVISION VII
1 5 Sec. . STATE WORKERS – ACTIVE DUTY –
1 6 EMPLOYMENT RETENTION. If a state employee employed by
1 7 the department of elder affairs, the Iowa department
1 8 of public health, the department of inspections and
1 9 appeals, the department of human services, or the
1 10 commission of veterans affairs is called to engage in
1 11 active duty in the military service, in addition to
1 12 complying with the requirements of section 29A.28, the
1 13 position of the state employee shall be retained for
1 14 the employee until the employee's return from active
1 15 duty. Following completion of the active duty the
1 16 employee shall be allowed to return to the same
1 17 position as that which the employee left to engage in
1 18 active duty, and the employee's engagement in active
1 19 duty shall not affect the employee's classification,
1 20 pay, or benefits.
1 21 Sec. . EFFECTIVE DATE. This division of this
1 22 Act, being deemed of immediate importance, takes
1 23 effect upon enactment."
