  1  1    Amend Senate File 390, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 7, by striking lines 23 through 31, and
  1  4 inserting the following:  "proposed to be included in
  1  5 the consolidation.  The consolidation charter shall be
  1  6 effective in regard to a city government only if a
  1  7 majority of the voters of the city voting on the
  1  8 question voted for participation in the consolidation
  1  9 charter.  A city named on the ballot shall consolidate
  1 10 with the county only if a majority of the votes cast
  1 11 in the city on the proposal approves the proposal.  If
  1 12 one or more cities named on the ballot approves the
  1 13 proposal, the charter is adopted if both a majority of
  1 14 the votes cast in the unincorporated area of the
  1 15 county approves the proposal and a majority of the
  1 16 votes cast in the entire county approves the
  1 17 proposal."

  1 19 inserting the following:  "participation in the
  1 20 commonwealth charter.  A city named on the ballot
  1 21 shall be united with the county in a community
  1 22 commonwealth only if a majority of the votes cast in
  1 23 the city on the proposal approves the proposal.  If
  1 24 one or more cities named on the ballot approves the
  1 25 proposal, the charter is adopted if both a majority of
  1 26 the votes cast in the unincorporated area of the
  1 27 county approves the proposal and a majority of the
  1 28 votes cast in the entire county approves the
  1 29 proposal."
