PAG LIN 1 1 Amend House File 614 as follows: 1 2 #1. Page 28, by inserting before line 33, the 1 3 following: 1 4 "Sec. . Section 39A.2, subsection 1, paragraph 1 5 b, Code 2003, is amended by adding the following new 1 6 subparagraph: 1 7 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH. (6) Returns an absentee ballot 1 8 application or voted absentee ballot to the 1 9 commissioner's office and the person is not an 1 10 immediate family member of the applicant or voter as 1 11 that term is defined in section 53.1A or is not the 1 12 designee of a voter described in section 53.22, 1 13 subsection 5." 1 14 #2. Page 28, by inserting before line 33, the 1 15 following: 1 16 "Sec. . NEW SECTION. 53.1A DEFINITIONS. 1 17 For purposes of this chapter, "immediate family 1 18 member" of an absentee ballot applicant or absentee 1 19 ballot voter means the spouse, adult child, parent, 1 20 grandparent, or adult sibling of the applicant or 1 21 voter." 1 22 #3. Page 29, line 7, by inserting after the word 1 23 "office." the following: "The commissioner may make 1 24 absentee ballot applications available on the 1 25 commissioner's office internet website." 1 26 #4. Page 29, by striking lines 15 through 19, and 1 27 inserting the following: "is not required.Absentee 1 28 ballot". 1 29 #5. Page 29, by striking lines 24 through 27, and 1 30 inserting the following: "than the appropriate 1 31 commissioner. A completed application for an absentee 1 32 ballot may be returned only by the applicant, or a 1 33 member of the applicant's immediate family, or the 1 34 applicant's designee if the applicant is a voter 1 35 described in section 53.22, subsection 5." 1 36 #6. Page 29, by inserting before line 28, the 1 37 following: 1 38 "Sec. . Section 53.2, Code 2003, is amended by 1 39 adding the following new unnumbered paragraph: 1 40 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. If an absentee ballot 1 41 application is received by the commissioner more than 1 42 sixty days before the election, the commissioner shall 1 43 notify the applicant that the applicant must reapply 1 44 for an absentee ballot no sooner than sixty days 1 45 before the election." 1 46 #7. Page 29, line 34, by inserting after the 1 47 figure "3." the following: "However, the commissioner 1 48 may mail an absentee ballot to an applicant less than 1 49 seven days before the election if the applicant is a 1 50 voter described in section 53.22, subsection 5." 2 1 #8.
