1 2 #1. Page 2, by inserting after line 27, the
1 3 following:
1 4 "6A. This section shall not apply if the parent
1 5 objects to the screening. If a parent objects to the
1 6 screening, the birthing hospital, physician, or other
1 7 health care professional required to report
1 8 information to the department under this section shall
1 9 provide educational information to the parent
1 10 describing the screening, how the screening is
1 11 conducted, and the possible consequences of treatment
1 12 for and nontreatment of hearing loss. The birthing
1 13 hospital, physician, or other health care professional
1 14 required to report information under this section
1 15 shall obtain a written refusal from the parent, shall
1 16 document the refusal in the newborn's or infant's
1 17 medical record, and shall report the refusal to the
1 18 department in the manner prescribed by rule of the
1 19 department."
