3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 99B.21, subsection 1, paragraph c, Code
22024, is amended to read as follows:
   3c.  A licensed qualified organization shall not conduct or
4offer free bingo games or bingo games for which the price to
5play exceeds fifty dollars per game
.
6   Sec. 2.  Section 99B.21, subsection 2, paragraph c, Code
72024, is amended to read as follows:
   8c.  A merchandise prize may be awarded in the game of bingo,
9but the actual retail value of the prize, or if the prize
10consists of more than one item, unit, or part, the aggregate
11retail value of all items, units, or parts, shall not exceed
12two nine hundred fifty dollars in value. However, if the
13merchandise prize solely consists of one firearm, the actual
14retail value of the prize shall not exceed five thousand
15dollars.

16EXPLANATION
17The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
18the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   19This bill relates to bingo games provided by a licensed
20qualified organization.
   21The bill prohibits a licensed qualified organization from
22conducting or offering a bingo game for which the price to play
23exceeds $50 per game. The bill also increases the maximum
24permissible value of a merchandise prize awarded in a game of
25bingo from $250 to $950, unless the merchandise prize consists
26solely of one firearm, in which case the maximum permissible
27value is $5,000.
