29.1Department of public defense.The department of public defense is composed of the office of the adjutant general, the military forces of the state of Iowa, and the Iowa gold star military museum as established in section 29.4. The adjutant general is the director of the department of public defense and shall perform all functions, responsibilities, powers, and duties concerning the military forces of the state of Iowa and the Iowa gold star military museum as provided in the laws of the state. See chapter 29C.29.4Iowa gold star military museum.1.  The department of public defense shall establish a military historical museum located at Camp Dodge which shall be known as the “Iowa gold star military museum”. The museum shall be administered by the adjutant general.2.  The adjutant general may appoint a museum director and such other personnel from the full-time equivalent positions authorized the department for the purposes of maintaining and operating the Iowa gold star military museum.
