House Resolution 13 - Introduced
An Act 1honoring and congratulating the Grand
2View University wrestling team on its outstanding
3National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
4Wrestling National Championship win.
5WHEREAS, on March 4, 2023, the Grand View Vikings
6wrestling team (the Vikings) won the National
7Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)
8Wrestling Competition for a historic 11th time;and
9WHEREAS, the Vikings finished with a total score of
10206 team points, 48.5 points ahead of the second place
11team and 116 points ahead of third;and
12WHEREAS, three of the Vikings were crowned as
13national champions: Shea Ruffridge at 141 pounds,
14Owen Braungardt at 197 pounds, and Greg Hagan at 285
15pounds;and
16WHEREAS, 11 of the Vikings gained All-American
17honors and finished in sixth place or better in their
18weight classes;and
19WHEREAS, Shea Ruffridge helped solidify the Vikings’
20victory when he upset Baterden Boldmaa, a three-time
21national champion with 100 consecutive wins, and then
22continued on to win the national title;and
23WHEREAS, coach Nick Mitchell was named the 2023 NAIA
24National Coach of the Year, his sixth such honor as the
25Vikings’ head coach;NOW THEREFORE,
26BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That
27the House of Representatives honors and congratulates
28the Grand View Vikings wrestling team on its
-1-1impressive achievements in NAIA wrestling by winning
2an unprecedented 11th NAIA wrestling championship
3title;and
4BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the Chief
5Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit
6copies of this resolution to the Grand View Vikings
7wrestling team head coach Nick Mitchell and Grand View
8University President Rachelle Keck.
