   3BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  The following amendment to the Constitution of
2the State of Iowa is proposed:
   3Article I of the Constitution of the State of Iowa is amended
4by adding the following new section:
   5Sec.26.  Marriage.  In accordance with the laws of nature
6and nature’s God, the state of Iowa recognizes the definition
7of marriage to be the solemnized union between one human
8biological male and one human biological female.
9   Sec. 2.REFERRAL AND PUBLICATION.   The foregoing proposed
10amendment to the Constitution of the State of Iowa is referred
11to the general assembly to be chosen at the next general
12election for members of the general assembly, and shall be
13published as provided by law for three months previous to the
14date of that election.
15EXPLANATION
16The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
17the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   18This joint resolution proposes an amendment to the
19Constitution of the State of Iowa relating to marriage
20specifying “In accordance with the laws of nature and nature’s
21God, the state of Iowa recognizes the definition of marriage to
22be the solemnized union between one human biological male and
23one human biological female.”
   24The resolution, if adopted, would be published and then
25referred to the next general assembly (91st) for adoption
26before being submitted to the electorate for ratification.
