Representative from Lee county, was born on a farm in Fulton county, Illinois, in 1873. Educated in the rural schools and Western Normal college at Bushnell, Illinois. Taught school three years and studied law at Chicago Kent College of Law, a branch of Lake Forest university. Served in the Spanish-American war with the Sixth Illinois volunteer infantry. Lives at Keokuk where he practices law. Is a member of Iowa State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Masonic, Odd Fellows, Modern Woodmen and Elks lodges. Served in the thirty-ninth and fortieth general assemblies and was re-elected in 1924. Appointed judge in the first judicial district by Governor Hammill in March, 1924. A republican in politics.
