Served in Air Force 1945-47. Graduated State University of Iowa, (B.A.), 1950, and College of Law, (J.D.) February, 1953. Practiced law at Avoca, Iowa, with father in firm Turner & Turner, 1953-54. Assistant county attorney, Council Bluffs, 1954-56. Since 1956 has engaged in practice of law at Council Bluffs. Married Charlotte Forsen of Modale, Iowa, and has son, Joe W. Turner, II, and daughter, Amy Elizabeth. Town clerk, Avoca, 1953-60. Member Theta Xi and Phi Delta Phi, legal fraternity, American Legion, 40 & 8, Sertoma, Elks, Eagles, and member of the Presbyterian Church. Second session.
