S.F. _____ H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 602.6105, subsection 1, Code 2024, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 1. Courts shall be held at the places in each county 3 maintaining space for the district court as designated by the 4 chief judge of the judicial district , or held by remote means 5 of communication , except that the determination of actions, 6 special proceedings, and other matters not requiring a jury may 7 be done at some other place in the district with the consent of 8 the parties. For the purposes of this subsection , contiguous 9 counties which have entered into an agreement to share costs 10 pursuant to section 331.381, subsection 16 , paragraph “b” , 11 shall be considered as one unit for the purpose of conducting 12 all matters except as otherwise provided in this subsection . 13 EXPLANATION 14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 15 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 16 This bill authorizes court proceedings to be held by remote 17 means of communication. 18 -1- LSB 5211XD (2) 90 cm/ns 1/ 1
