MEDICAID
MANAGED
CARE

PARTICIPATING
PHARMACY

AND
PHARMACIST
NETWORK
PROVIDERS.
A
Medicaid
managed
care
2
organization
shall
accept
as
a
participating
network
provider
3
any
licensed
pharmacy
or
pharmacist
located
within
the
4
geographic
service
area
of
the
managed
care
organization
if
5
the
licensed
pharmacy
or
pharmacist
consents
to
participation,
6
meets
and
agrees
to
the
conditions
for
participation
in
the
7
Medicaid
program
as
established
by
the
department
of
human
8
services,
complies
with
the
applicable
provisions
of
chapter
9
155A,
and
accepts
as
reimbursement
the
prevailing
Medicaid
10
reimbursement.
The
department
of
human
services
shall
adopt
11
rules
pursuant
to
chapter
17A
to
administer
this
section.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
14
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
a
Medicaid
managed
care
organization
16
(MCO)
to
accept
as
a
participating
network
provider
any
17
licensed
pharmacy
or
pharmacist
located
within
the
geographic
18
service
area
of
the
MCO
if
the
licensed
pharmacy
or
pharmacist
19
consents
to
participation,
meets
and
agrees
to
the
conditions
20
for
participation
in
the
Medicaid
program
as
established
by
21
the
department
of
human
services
(DHS),
complies
with
the
22
applicable
provisions
of
Code
chapter
155A
(pharmacy),
and
23
accepts
as
reimbursement
the
prevailing
Medicaid
reimbursement.
24
DHS
shall
adopt
administrative
rules
to
administer
the
bill.
