S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 282.1, Code 2020, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 5. If the guardian of a minor child, who 3 is not the parent of the minor child, enrolls the minor child 4 in a school district, the guardian shall, within ten days of 5 enrolling the minor child, provide the school district with a 6 copy of the court order issued under section 232D.401 or the 7 letter of appointment issued under section 232D.403 verifying 8 the appointment as guardian of the minor child. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill requires the guardian of a minor child, who 13 is not the parent of the child, to provide verification of 14 guardianship to the school district within 10 days of enrolling 15 the minor child in the school district. 16 -1- LSB 5722XC (3) 88 kh/jh 1/ 1
