S.F. 2258 Section 1. Section 282.1, subsection 2, paragraph a, Code 1 2020, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (4) Is a minor who is enrolled by a 3 person who resides in the school district and submits to the 4 school district either a notarized letter signed by the minor’s 5 parent authorizing the person to enroll the minor child in the 6 school district or proof of guardianship. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill amends the definition of “resident”, used for 11 purposes of determining eligibility for enrollment in a school 12 district free of tuition, to add a minor who is enrolled by a 13 person who resides in the school district and submits to the 14 school district either a notarized letter signed by the minor’s 15 parent authorizing the person to enroll the minor child in the 16 school district or proof of guardianship. 17 -1- LSB 5722SV (3) 88 kh/jh 1/ 1
