WHEREAS,
Col.
Ralph
Foster
Tomlinson
served
in
six

different
countries
for
over
20
years
in
the
United

States
Air
Force;
and
7
WHEREAS,
after
his
service
in
the
United
States
8
Air
Force,
Col.
Tomlinson
and
his
wife,
Suzanne
9
Helen
Tomlinson,
continued
to
serve
their
community
10
and
country
by
volunteering
their
time,
talent,
and
11
treasure
through
their
service
in
the
Iowa
Wing
of
12
the
Civil
Air
Patrol
where
they
performed
multiple
13
search
and
rescue
missions
during
emergencies,
provided
14
command
staff
and
incident
command
services,
and
15
educated
and
trained
members
in
search
and
rescue
16
emergency
services;
and
17
WHEREAS,
Col.
Tomlinson
served
as
the
Iowa
Wing
18
Commander
of
the
Civil
Air
Patrol
from
2004
to
19
2008;
and
20
WHEREAS,
in
2008,
Col.
Tomlinson
and
Mrs.
Tomlinson
21
enrolled
in
the
United
States
Coast
Guard
Auxiliary
and
22
utilized
their
talents
and
experience
to
assist
Iowans
23
in
the
floods
of
2008
and
2013;
and
24
WHEREAS,
Col.
Tomlinson
was
deployed
to
help
staff
25
the
Coast
Guard’s
flood
operation
in
North
Dakota;
and
26
WHEREAS,
on
behalf
of
the
Coast
Guard,
Col.
27
Tomlinson
and
Mrs.
Tomlinson
used
their
extensive

skills
to
provide
high-quality,
nationwide

instruction
and
training
to
the
members
of
the
Coast

Guard
Auxiliary
regarding
emergency
services,

and

WHEREAS,
Col.
Tomlinson
and
Mrs.
Tomlinson
have

provided
their
service,
time,
and
talent
without
7
compensation
or
expectation
of
reward
and
at

considerable
personal
expense;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,

That
the
House
of
Representatives
hereby
honors
and

recognizes
the
significance
of
Colonel
Ralph
Foster

Tomlinson
and
Suzanne
Helen
Tomlinson’s
contribution

and
service
to
Iowa
and
is
grateful
and
thankful
for

their
many
years
of
service
in
the
United
States

the
