H.F. 2300 Section 1. Section 35A.16, subsection 3, paragraph a, Code 1 2020, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. If sufficient moneys are available, the department 3 shall annually allocate ten thousand dollars to each county 4 commission of veteran affairs, or to each county sharing the 5 services of an executive director or administrator pursuant 6 to chapter 28E , to be used to provide services to veterans 7 pursuant to section 35B.6 and for training, education, and 8 related expenses of county veteran service officers . Each 9 county receiving an allocation shall annually report on 10 expenditure of the allocation in a form agreed to by the 11 department and county representatives. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill concerns training for county veteran service 16 officers. 17 Code section 35A.16, concerning the county commissions of 18 veteran affairs fund, is amended to provide that counties may 19 use moneys allocated to each county from the fund for training, 20 education, and related expenses of county veteran service 21 officers. 22 -1- LSB 5707HV (1) 88 ec/rn 1/ 1
