by
adding
the
following
new
paragraph:

Adopt
a
policy
requiring
that
not
less

seventy-five
percent
of
the
students
who
are
accepted
at

the
college
of
medicine
and
at
the
college
of
dentistry
at
the

state
university
of
Iowa
be
residents
of
Iowa
or
persons
who
6
were,
prior
to
applying
to
the
college
of
medicine
or
college
7
of
dentistry,
enrolled
in
an
eligible
postsecondary
institution
8
as
defined
in
section
261E.2.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
11
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
the
state
board
of
regents
to
adopt
a
13
policy
requiring
that
not
less
than
75
percent
of
the
students
14
accepted
at
the
colleges
of
medicine
and
dentistry
at
the
15
state
university
of
Iowa
be
residents
of
Iowa
or
persons
who
16
prior
to
applying
to
the
college
of
medicine
or
dentistry
were
17
enrolled
in
a
community
college
in
Iowa,
an
accredited
private
18
institution
in
Iowa,
or
a
regents
university.
