H.F. 2027 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 103.1B Terms not defined. 1 For purposes of this chapter, words and phrases that are 2 not defined in section 103.1 shall have the same meaning as 3 provided in the most current publication of the national 4 electrical code issued and adopted by the national fire 5 protection association, and amendments to the code. 6 Sec. 2. Section 103.23, subsection 3, Code 2020, is amended 7 to read as follows: 8 3. All new electrical installations for single-family 9 residential applications requiring new electrical service 10 equipment . 11 Sec. 3. Section 103.32, subsection 2, paragraph b, 12 unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 2020, is amended to read as 13 follows: 14 For new panel boards, new switchboards, new switchgear, 15 services, change of services, temporary services, additions, 16 alterations, or repairs on either primary or secondary services 17 as follows: 18 EXPLANATION 19 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 20 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 21 This bill relates to provisions governing the licensure 22 of electricians and electrical contractors contained in Code 23 chapter 103. 24 The bill provides any terms not defined in the Code chapter 25 shall have the meaning provided for in the most recent national 26 electrical code, and amendments to the code. 27 Currently, Code section 103.23 makes single-family 28 residential installations requiring new electrical service 29 equipment subject to the inspection and enforcement provisions 30 of Code chapter 103. The bill removes the requirement that new 31 electrical service equipment installation is necessary for the 32 provisions to apply in single-family residential electrical 33 installations. As a result, all new single-family residential 34 electrical installations are subject to the inspection and 35 -1- LSB 5450YH (3) 88 ja/rn 1/ 2
