Senate Resolution 13 - Introduced SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13 BY SCHNEIDER A Resolution honoring the peaceful kinship between 1 the peoples of Canada and the United States, and 2 recognizing March 15, 2017, as Canada Day at the 3 Iowa Capitol. 4 WHEREAS, Canada and the United States share an 5 economic partnership which is grounded in shared 6 security and prosperity, balanced and fair, and which 7 supports thousands of jobs in both countries; and 8 WHEREAS, Canada and the United States depend on each 9 other for mutual prosperity, as no two economies in the 10 world are more integrated; and 11 WHEREAS, Canada and the United States share a rich 12 and vibrant history, founded on the shared values of 13 liberty and justice, and a commitment to security and 14 defense partnerships both within North America and 15 outside North America; and 16 WHEREAS, the economic relationship between Canada 17 and the State of Iowa is especially strong, as Canada 18 is Iowa’s top export market; and 19 WHEREAS, Canada and the State of Iowa enjoy robust 20 and expanding ties based upon relationships and 21 exchanges in such areas as agriculture, innovation, 22 culture, sport, and academia; NOW THEREFORE, 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate honors 24 the long and rich history of friendship and economic 25 partnership between the citizens of the State of Iowa 26 and our neighbors in Canada; and 27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That in honor of our strong 28 -1- LSB 2410XS (4) 87 gh/rj 1/ 2
