Senate Resolution 119 - Introduced SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 119 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION A Resolution honoring Senator Rick Bertrand for his 1 years of service in the Iowa Senate. 2 WHEREAS, Rick Bertrand was first elected to the 3 Senate in 2010, and has represented District 7, which 4 serves the Sioux City area in northwestern Iowa; and 5 WHEREAS, Senator Bertrand was born and raised on a 6 farm on the northeast edge of Sioux City, graduated 7 from the University of Northern Iowa in 1993 after 8 studying economics and political science, and earned 9 a master’s degree in organizational leadership from 10 Bellevue University in 2016; and 11 WHEREAS, Senator Bertrand’s professional career has 12 emphasized commercial development and entrepreneurial 13 experience; and 14 WHEREAS, during his Senate tenure, Senator Bertrand 15 has served on a variety of committees, including 16 the Appropriations, Commerce, Natural Resources 17 and Environment, State Government (Ranking Member), 18 Transportation, and Veterans Affairs standing 19 committees, the Transportation, Infrastructure, and 20 Capitals Appropriations Subcommittee (Chair), and the 21 Capitol Planning Commission; and 22 WHEREAS, Senator Bertrand’s career in the Senate 23 has been exemplified by his commitment to liberty, 24 integrity, and public service; NOW THEREFORE, 25 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate honors 26 and thanks Senator Rick Bertrand for his years of 27 service in the Senate, and wishes him and his family 28 -1- LSB 6251SV (2) 87 rn/rj 1/ 2
