Senate Resolution 109 - Introduced SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 109 BY SCHNEIDER A Resolution honoring the Iowa Resource for 1 International Service. 2 WHEREAS, the mission of the Iowa Resource for 3 International Service is to promote international 4 understanding, development, and peace by connecting 5 Iowans to communities worldwide; and 6 WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International Service 7 has operated for twenty-five years; and 8 WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International 9 Service brings students from across the world to visit 10 communities throughout Iowa, where the international 11 students attend school, live with Iowa host families, 12 and learn about the Midwest; and 13 WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International Service 14 hosts entrepreneurs, local government officials, 15 legal professionals, nongovernmental organization 16 leaders, and other professionals from around the world 17 to participate in a three-week program in Iowa that 18 covers a diverse range of topics and themes focusing 19 on public diplomacy and professional training and 20 development; and 21 WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International 22 Service has made important contributions to Iowa and 23 the international community that have strengthened 24 relationships between the State of Iowa, Iowans, and 25 communities around the world; and 26 WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International Service 27 has played an integral role in international citizen 28 -1- LSB 6201XS (6) 87 asf/rj 1/ 2

S.R. 109 diplomacy; NOW THEREFORE; 1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate 2 congratulates the men and women of Iowa who have 3 bettered the world through their work with the Iowa 4 Resource for International Service; and 5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Senate recognizes 6 March 14, 2018, as Iowa Resource for International 7 Service Day; and 8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage, enrolled 9 copies of this resolution be sent to the Iowa Resource 10 for International Service. 11 -2- LSB 6201XS (6) 87 asf/rj 2/ 2
