H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 669.14, Code 2018, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 15. Any claim relating to beehives or 3 honeybees on state property. 4 Sec. 2. Section 670.4, subsection 1, Code 2018, is amended 5 by adding the following new paragraph: 6 NEW PARAGRAPH . q. Any claim relating to beehives or 7 honeybees on municipal property. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill amends the Iowa tort claims Act and the Iowa 12 municipal tort claims Act to create an exemption from liability 13 for claims related to beehives and honeybees on public property 14 for state agencies and municipalities. 15 The Iowa tort claims Act defines state agency to include 16 all executive departments, agencies, boards, bureaus, and 17 commissions of the state.
