House Resolution 114 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 114 BY KOESTER , R. TAYLOR , LANDON , WATTS , BACON , HAGENOW , COWNIE , DEYOE , and NUNN A Resolution honoring Robert Anderson, Executive Chef 1 and Program Chair of the Iowa Culinary Institute at 2 Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), for his 3 43 years of world-renowned leadership at the Iowa 4 Culinary Institute. 5 WHEREAS, Chef Anderson studied at the Culinary 6 Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and began 7 his career at the Broadmoor Hotel and Air Force Academy 8 Officer’s Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and 9 WHEREAS, Chef Anderson received the prestigious 10 L’Ordre des Palmes Academiques award from the French 11 Republic in recognition of his service to French 12 education, contribution to French culture, and 13 commitment to the culinary arts; and 14 WHEREAS, Chef Anderson is one of only 99 American 15 chefs, and the only active chef from Iowa, inducted 16 into the Honorable Order of the Golden Toque, a 17 select society of distinguished culinary arts 18 professionals; and 19 WHEREAS, Chef Anderson created the outstanding 20 Culinary Arts program at DMACC and during his tenure at 21 the Iowa Culinary Institute, Chef Anderson established 22 a relationship with the Cuisiniers de la Loire, an 23 organization of the best chefs from France, and created 24 a one-of-a-kind, 33-year-old student-and-chef-exchange 25 program for teaching and student apprenticeships; and 26 WHEREAS, since 1974, when Chef Anderson became 27 -1- LSB 6242HH (11) 87 ko/jh 1/ 2
H.R. 114 Chair of DMACC’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Careers 1 Program, most graduates of the Iowa Culinary Institute 2 have stayed in Iowa or returned to Iowa after working 3 in other states; and 4 WHEREAS, the quality of the culinary experience in 5 Iowa has been enhanced by the selfless dedication and 6 exceptional expertise of Chef Anderson; NOW THEREFORE, 7 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 8 That the House of Representatives hereby honors and 9 recognizes the expertise, professionalism, excellence, 10 and significance of Chef Robert Anderson’s contribution 11 to the culinary education of several thousand students 12 and to the culinary innovation throughout Iowa, 13 something Iowans enjoy every day. 14 -2- LSB 6242HH (11) 87 ko/jh 2/ 2
