Kellogg

Cedar

Rapids,
Iowa,
for
nearly
a
half
century
of
voluntary

service
to
Iowa
in
emergency
services.

WHEREAS,
for
over
a
quarter
century,
Eugene
C.
4
Kellogg
volunteered
his
time
and
talent
to
Iowa
through
5
his
service
with
the
Civil
Air
Patrol
by
providing
6
search
and
rescue
and
other
emergency
services,
7
managing
many
air
and
ground
searches
as
incident
8
commander,
and
serving
as
the
Iowa
Wing
Commander
of
9
the
Civil
Air
Patrol
from
1986
to
1988;
and
10
WHEREAS,
in
2008,
Mr.
Kellogg
enrolled
in
the
11
United
States
Coast
Guard
Auxiliary
and
brought
his
12
extensive
talents
to
Iowans
in
the
floods
of
2008
and
13
was
deployed
twice
to
staff
the
Coast
Guard’s
flood
14
operation
at
the
North
Dakota
Emergency
Operations
15
Center,
once
in
2009
and
again
in
2011;
and
16
WHEREAS,
on
behalf
of
the
Coast
Guard,
Mr.
Kellogg
17
has
used
his
considerable
radio
communication
skills
18
and
acted
as
a
radio
monitoring
facility,
monitoring
19
during
times
of
imminent
danger
high-frequency
20
short-wave
ship-to-shore
communications
to
ensure
the
21
availability
of
back-up
communications;
and
22
WHEREAS,
for
the
last
three
years,
Mr.
Kellogg
23
has
assisted
the
United
States
Coast
Guard
Auxiliary
24
by
providing
communications
support
to
the
Iowa
25
National
Guard
during
its
high-frequency
communication
26
exercise;
and

Mr.
Kellogg
has
provided
his
service,
time,

and
talent
without
compensation
and
at
considerable

personal
expense;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,

That
the
House
of
Representatives
hereby
honors
and
5
recognizes
the
significance
of
Eugene
C.
Kellogg’s
6
contribution
and
service
to
Iowa
and
is
grateful
and
7
thankful
for
his
many
years
of
service
in
the
Civil
Air
8
Patrol
and
the
United
States
Coast
Guard
Auxiliary.
