H.F. 2323 Section 1. Section 509B.3, subsection 6, paragraph a, Code 1 2018, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. Nine Eighteen months after the date the employee’s 3 or member’s insurance under the policy would otherwise have 4 terminated because of termination of employment or membership. 5 EXPLANATION 6 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 7 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 8 This bill relates to continuation of group health insurance 9 after an individual’s termination of employment or membership. 10 This applies to group accident or health policies or contracts 11 issued pursuant to Code chapter 509 or 514, or a plan for 12 health care services provided pursuant to Code chapter 514B. 13 Currently, continuation of coverage terminates nine months 14 after the date an employee’s or member’s coverage under the 15 policy would have otherwise terminated due to termination of 16 the individual’s employment or membership.
