Section
724.4B,
subsection
2,
Code
2015,
is

amended
by
adding
the
following
new
paragraph:

(1)
An
employee
of
a
school
who
has

valid
permit
to
carry
weapons
issued
pursuant
to
section

724.11,
if
the
employee
is
in
or
on
the
grounds
of
the
school

where
employed.

If
an
employee
of
a
school
obtains
a
permit
to
carry

weapons
pursuant
to
section
724.11,
the
school
shall
reimburse

the
school
employee
the
full
cost
of
obtaining
or
renewing
the

permit.

courthouse

An
employee,
whose
physical
place
of
employment
is

located
within
a
county
courthouse,
may
go
armed
with,
carry,

transport
a
firearm
of
any
kind,
whether
concealed
or
not,

in
or
on
the
grounds
of
the
county
courthouse
where
employed,
16
if
the
person
has
a
valid
permit
to
carry
weapons
issued
17
pursuant
to
section
724.11.

2.
If
an
employee
described
in
subsection
1
obtains
a
19
valid
permit
to
carry
weapons
pursuant
to
section
724.11,
the
20
employee’s
employer
shall
reimburse
the
employee
the
full
cost
21
of
obtaining
or
renewing
the
permit.

Sec.
3.
IMPLEMENTATION
OF
ACT.
Section
25B.2,
subsection
23
3,
shall
not
apply
to
this
Act.

This
bill
relates
to
carrying
weapons
in
or
on
the
grounds
of

a
school
or
a
courthouse
by
an
employee.

The
bill
allows
an
employee
of
a
school
to
go
armed
with,
to

carry,
or
to
transport
a
firearm
of
any
kind,
whether
concealed
31
or
not,
in
or
on
the
grounds
of
a
school
where
employed,
if
the

employee
has
a
valid
permit
to
carry
weapons
issued
pursuant

to
Code
section
724.11.
The
bill
requires
the
school
to

reimburse
the
school
employee
the
full
cost
of
obtaining
or

include
a
state
mandate
as
defined
in
Code

section
25B.3.
The
bill
makes
inapplicable
Code
section
25B.2,

subsection
3,
which
would
relieve
a
political
subdivision
from
12
complying
with
a
state
mandate
if
funding
for
the
cost
of
13
the
state
mandate
is
not
provided
or
specified.
Therefore,
14
political
subdivisions
are
required
to
comply
with
any
state
15
mandate
included
in
the
bill.
