S.F. 157 Section 1. Section 256.9, subsection 53, Code 2015, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . d. Maintain on the department’s internet 3 site a searchable database of examples of lesson plans for 4 each of the Iowa core standards by grade and subject. The 5 department shall solicit and review examples of lesson plans 6 for each of the Iowa core standards and shall include in 7 the database only those lesson plans that reflect the best 8 practices for each Iowa core standard by grade and subject. 9 Teachers whose lesson plans are identified as exemplifying best 10 practices and are included in the database shall be presented 11 with a certificate of achievement by the department. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill requires the director of the department of 16 education to maintain on the department’s internet site a 17 searchable database of examples of lesson plans for each of the 18 Iowa core standards by grade and subject.
