H.F. 446 Section 1. LEGISLATIVE INTENT —— STATEWIDE ASSESSMENT OF 1 STUDENT PROGRESS. It is the intent of the general assembly to 2 address during the 2015 legislative session the administration 3 by school districts of a statewide assessment of student 4 progress which, in accordance with section 256.7, subsection 5 21, paragraph “b”, at a minimum assesses student progress 6 on the core academic indicators in mathematics and reading 7 in grades four, eight, and eleven, and the core academic 8 indicators in science in grades eight and eleven. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill establishes legislative intent to address during 13 the 2015 legislative session the administration by school 14 districts of a statewide assessment of student progress on 15 core academic indicators which is required under current law. 16 Currently, the state board is required to provide in rule for a 17 set of core academic indicators in mathematics and reading in 18 grades 4, 8, and 11, and for science in grades 8 and 11. 19 -1- LSB 2568HV (1) 86 kh/rj 1/ 1
