H.F. 244 Section 1. Section 321.281, Code 2015, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 1A. A person operating a motor vehicle 3 shall not, when passing a person riding a bicycle on a highway, 4 including the roadway or the shoulder adjacent to the roadway, 5 bring the motor vehicle within five feet of the person riding 6 the bicycle. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill prohibits a person operating a motor vehicle, when 11 passing a person riding a bicycle on a highway, from bringing 12 the motor vehicle within five feet of the person riding the 13 bicycle. 14 The scheduled fine for violating this provision is $250. 15 -1- LSB 2112YH (2) 86 ns/nh 1/ 1
