H.F. 2108 Section 1. Section 481A.38, subsection 1, Code 2016, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . c. The commission shall adopt a rule 3 pursuant to chapter 17A allowing a .410-gauge shotgun or 4 muzzleloading shotgun to be used to hunt wild turkey under the 5 conditions in which other shotguns or muzzleloading shotguns 6 are allowed. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill requires the natural resource commission to adopt 11 a rule pursuant to Code chapter 17A that allows a .410-gauge 12 shotgun or muzzleloading shotgun to be used to hunt wild turkey 13 under the conditions in which other shotguns or muzzleloading 14 shotguns are allowed. Currently, use of a shotgun or 15 muzzleloading shotgun smaller than 20-gauge is prohibited by 16 rule when hunting wild turkey in the state.
