H.F. 2052 Section 1. Section 91A.5A, subsection 1, Code 2016, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 1. An employer shall provide each employee who is a an 3 eligible veteran , as defined in section 35.1 , with holiday 4 time off for Veterans Day, November 11, if the employee would 5 otherwise be required to work on that day, as provided in this 6 section . For purposes of this section, “eligible veteran” means 7 a veteran, as defined in section 35.1, and a former member of 8 the reserve forces of the United States who served at least 9 four years in the reserve forces and who was discharged under 10 honorable conditions. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill provides that a former member of the United 15 States reserve forces who served at least four years and who 16 was discharged under honorable conditions is eligible to take 17 holiday time off for Veterans Day as provided in Code section 18 91A.5A. 19 -1- LSB 5081HH (4) 86 ec/nh 1/ 1
