H.F. 2010 Section 1. Section 261.113, subsection 5, paragraph a, Code 1 2016, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. The amount of loan repayment an eligible student who 3 enters into an agreement pursuant to subsection 3 shall receive 4 if in compliance with obligations under the agreement shall not 5 exceed fifty forty thousand dollars annually for an eligible 6 loan. Payments under this section may be made for each year of 7 eligible practice during a period of five consecutive years and 8 shall not exceed a total of two hundred thousand dollars. 9 Sec. 2. Section 261.114, subsection 5, Code 2016, is amended 10 to read as follows: 11 5. Loan repayment amounts. 12 a. The amount of loan repayment an eligible student who 13 enters into an agreement pursuant to subsection 3 shall receive 14 if in compliance with obligations under the agreement shall 15 not exceed five four thousand dollars annually for an eligible 16 loan. Payments under this section may be made for each year of 17 eligible practice during a period of five consecutive years and 18 shall not exceed a total of twenty thousand dollars. 19 b. The commission shall not enter into more than fifteen 20 program agreements annually, with the exception of agreements 21 providing for additional loan repayment with surplus funds in 22 accordance with subsection 7 . 23 EXPLANATION 24 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 25 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 26 This bill reduces the limitation on the amount of loan 27 repayment an eligible student can receive annually under the 28 rural Iowa primary care loan repayment program and the rural 29 Iowa advanced registered nurse practitioner and physician 30 assistant loan repayment program, and also eliminates a 31 provision that prohibits the college student aid commission 32 from entering into more than 15 rural Iowa advanced registered 33 nurse practitioner and physician assistant loan repayment 34 program agreements annually. 35 -1- LSB 5281YH (3) 86 kh/nh 1/ 1
