OLSON , OLDSON , JACOBY , and MURPHY A Resolution honoring the Iowa Library for the Blind 1 and Physically Handicapped. 2 WHEREAS, in 1960 the Library of Congress established 3 the Iowa Library for the Blind, and for 53 years the 4 Iowa Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped 5 has provided books and other materials in alternative 6 formats to Iowa residents who are unable to read 7 standard print materials; and 8 WHEREAS, the National Library Service for the Blind 9 and Physically Handicapped, a division of the Library 10 -1- LSB 2199HH (5) 85 jr/nh 1/ 2
H.R. 35 of Congress, has honored the Iowa Library for the Blind 1 and Physically Handicapped with an award to recognize 2 its 50th anniversary and its success in distributing 3 the new digital talking book players to its thousands 4 of patrons across Iowa; and 5 WHEREAS, the Iowa library, a division of the Iowa 6 Department for the Blind, has been hailed as one of the 7 best regional National Library Service libraries in the 8 country and holds the largest collection of Braille 9 titles in the world; NOW THEREFORE, 10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 11 the House of Representatives congratulates the Iowa 12 Department for the Blind and its staff for exemplary 13 service to the people of Iowa. 14 -2- LSB 2199HH (5) 85 jr/nh 2/ 2
