House Resolution 105 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 105 BY FORBES , OURTH , THOMAS , and LYKAM A Resolution recognizing Iowa’s pharmacists and 1 pharmacies who participate in the Department of 2 Corrections’ Behavioral Health Medication Voucher 3 Program. 4 WHEREAS, the Iowa Prescription Drug Corporation 5 (IPDC) is a not-for-profit corporation established in 6 2001 to provide affordable medication access to Iowans 7 in need of assistance; and 8 WHEREAS, although initially IPDC programs focused on 9 providing affordable medications to Medicare-eligible 10 Iowans, the focus has expanded to include a variety of 11 services designed to provide low-cost pharmaceutical 12 access to the most vulnerable populations in this 13 state; and 14 WHEREAS, one such program is the Department of 15 Corrections’ Behavioral Health Medication Voucher 16 Program, which provides up to a three-month supply of 17 mental health medication for offenders who have been 18 released from custody; and 19 WHEREAS, over half of the prison population has 20 a mental health diagnosis of some type and fully 21 one-third has a serious mental health problem; NOW 22 THEREFORE, 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 24 the House of Representatives extends its gratitude to 25 those pharmacists and pharmacies participating in the 26 Department of Corrections’ Behavioral Health Medication 27 Voucher Program for doing their part in returning 28 -1- LSB 5736YH (4) 85 jr/nh 1/ 2
