independent,
and
secure

Israel.

WHEREAS,
Israel
has
been
granted
her
lands
under
3
and
through
the
oldest
recorded
deed
as
reported
in
4
the
Old
Testament,
a
tome
of
scripture
held
sacred
and
5
reverenced
by
Jew
and
Christian,
alike,
as
the
acts
and
6
words
of
God;
and
7
WHEREAS,
as
the
Grantor
of
said
lands,
God
stated
8
to
the
Jewish
people
in
the
Old
Testament
in
Leviticus
9
20:24:
“Ye
shall
inherit
their
land,
and
I
will
give
10
it
unto
you
to
possess
it,
a
land
that
floweth
with
11
milk
and
honey”;
and
12
WHEREAS,
God
has
never
rescinded
his
grant
of
said
13
lands;
and
14
WHEREAS,
along
with
the
grant
of
said
lands
to
15
the
Jewish
people,
God
provided
for
the
non-Jewish
16
residents
of
the
land
in
commanding
that
governance
17
must
be
in
one
law
for
all
without
drawing
distinction
18
between
Jewish
and
non-Jewish
citizens,
as
contained
in
19
Leviticus
24:22;
and
20
WHEREAS,
the
Nation
of
Israel
declared
its
21
independent
control
and
governance
of
said
lands
22
on
May
14,
1948,
with
the
goal
of
reestablishing
23
their
God-given
lands
as
a
homeland
for
the
Jewish

and

WHEREAS,
the
United
States
of
America,
having
been

the
first
country
to
recognize
Israel
as
an
independent

nation
and
as
Israel’s
principal
Mideast
ally,
has
4
enjoyed
a
close
and
mutually
beneficial
relationship
5
with
Israel
and
her
people;
and
6
WHEREAS,
indeed,
Israel
is
the
United
States
of
7
America’s
closest
friend
in
the
Mideast;
and
8
WHEREAS,
the
roots
of
Israel
and
the
roots
of
the
9
United
States
of
America
are
so
intertwined
that
it
is
10
difficult
to
separate
one
from
the
other
under
the
word
11
and
protection
of
almighty
God;
and
12
WHEREAS,
there
are
those
in
the
Middle
East
who
13
have
sought
to
destroy
Israel
from
its
inception
as
a
14
nation;
and
15
WHEREAS,
those
same
enemies
of
Israel
also
seek
to
16
destroy
the
United
States
of
America;
and
17
WHEREAS,
the
United
States
of
America
and
the
nation
18
of
Israel
have
enjoyed
cordial
and
mutually
beneficial
19
relations
since
1948,
a
friendship
that
should
continue
20
to
strengthen
with
each
passing
year;
NOW
THEREFORE,
21
BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
That
22
the
House
of
Representatives
recognizes
the
sovereign
23
nation
of
Israel
as
a
friend
and
ally
of
the
United
24
States
of
America
and
the
people
of
Iowa;
and
25
BE
IT
FURTHER
RESOLVED,
That
on
behalf
of
the
people
26
of
Iowa,
the
House
of
Representatives
recognizes
the
27
right
of
the
nation
of
Israel
to
exist,
defend
itself,
28
and
secure
its
borders.
