H.F. 376 Section 1. Section 505.19, subsection 2, Code 2011, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 2. The commissioner shall hold a public hearing in each 3 congressional district at the time a carrier files for proposed 4 health insurance rate increases exceeding the average annual 5 health spending growth rate as provided in subsection 1 , prior 6 to approval or disapproval of the proposed rate increases for 7 that carrier by the commissioner. 8 EXPLANATION 9 This bill requires the commissioner of insurance to hold a 10 public hearing in each congressional district in the state when 11 a health insurance carrier files for proposed health insurance 12 rate increases exceeding a specified amount, before approving 13 or disapproving the proposed rate increases. 14 -1- LSB 2368YH (2) 84 av/nh 1/ 1
