S.F. 2169 Section 1. Section 142C.2, Code Supplement 2009, is amended 1 by adding the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 11A. “Gamete” means either of the human 3 haploid reproductive cells, the spermatozoon or the oocyte. 4 Sec. 2. Section 142C.2, subsections 22 and 35, Code 5 Supplement 2009, are amended to read as follows: 6 22. “Part” means an organ, an eye, or tissue of a human 7 being, but does not include the whole body of a human being and 8 does not include gametes, testes, or ovaries . 9 35. “Tissue” means a portion of the human body other than an 10 organ or an eye, but does not include blood unless the blood is 11 donated for the purpose of research or education and does not 12 include gametes, testes, or ovaries . 13 EXPLANATION 14 This bill excludes gametes, testes, and ovaries from the 15 definitions of “part” and “tissue” for the purposes of donation 16 under the revised uniform anatomical gift Act (Code chapter 17 142C). 18 -1- LSB 6068XS (2) 83 pf/nh 1/ 1
