H.F. 2260 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 155A.43 Liability of pharmacists 1 relating to refusal to dispense medications. 2 1. A pharmacist shall not be required against that 3 individual pharmacist’s religious beliefs or moral convictions 4 to dispense a specific medication. 5 2. Refusal of an individual pharmacist to dispense 6 a specific medication shall not be grounds for civil 7 liability nor a basis for any disciplinary, recriminatory, or 8 discriminatory action against the individual pharmacist or the 9 pharmacy of the pharmacist. 10 EXPLANATION 11 This bill relates to the ability of a pharmacist to refuse 12 to dispense a specific medication. The bill provides that 13 a pharmacist shall not be required against the pharmacist’s 14 religious beliefs or moral convictions to dispense a specific 15 medication.
