  1 20 A Resolution honoring America's Vietnam veterans.
  1 21    WHEREAS, from 1961 through 1973, the men and women
  1 22 of America's armed forces fought on behalf of the
  1 23 South Vietnamese people; and
  1 24    WHEREAS, almost 3.5 million Americans served in the
  1 25 Southeast Asia theater of war and more than 2.9
  1 26 million served in Vietnam itself; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, during that long conflict more than 58,000
  1 28 Americans gave their lives for freedom's sake and
  1 29 another 300,000 were wounded; and
  1 30    WHEREAS, Vietnam veterans today continue to be
  2  1 leaders in all walks of life and serve to make America
  2  2 a better place to live; and
  2  3    WHEREAS, Vietnam veterans can be proud of their
  2  4 legacy of devotion to the cause of freedom and service
  2  5 to America; NOW THEREFORE,
  2  6    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  7 That the House of Representatives, on behalf of all
  2  8 Iowans, humbly thanks America's Vietnam veterans for
  2  9 standing strong when they were needed and answering
  2 10 the challenge when they were called.
