1 3 A Resolution recognizing Ms. Effie Burt for her
1 4 composition, "I'll Make Me a World".
1 5 WHEREAS, Ms. Effie Burt, an esteemed resident of
1 6 Waterloo, Iowa, has composed "I'll Make Me a World", a
1 7 song reflecting on the best qualities of Iowa, to
1 8 remind her daughter and others that Iowa is a state in
1 9 which dreams may be made and achieved; and
1 10 WHEREAS, Ms. Burt's initiative in composing "I'll
1 11 Make Me a World" is both commendable and inspirational
1 12 and reflects a continuing dedication to the values and
1 13 traditions at the core of the Iowa spirit; and
1 14 WHEREAS, Ms. Burt's composition is a worthy
1 15 companion to the official state song, "The Song of
1 16 Iowa", by S. H. M. Byers; NOW THEREFORE,
1 17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 18 That the House of Representatives recognizes Ms. Effie
1 19 Burt for her composition, "I'll Make Me a World", and
1 20 thanks her for her initiative and ongoing dedication
1 21 to Iowa and for using her musical talent in such a
1 22 beneficial manner; and
1 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of
1 24 Representatives encourages the use of "I'll Make Me a
1 25 World" as a companion to the official state song in
1 26 all contexts in which the state song is presented; and
1 27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage, the
1 28 Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives shall
1 29 cause an official copy of this Resolution to be
1 30 prepared for presentation to Ms. Effie Burt.
